Hey Bulgaria Blog friends! 

   This is the first post to my new blog, I hope you enjoy it! 

This is all about Eurovision, the iconic European song contest that features contestants from all over. But let's just focus on the best, from the South Balkans, Bulgaria. We will be discussing the wins, losses, songs, and the tumultuous relationship of the contest vs. competitor. 

Bulgaria has had an off and on relationship with Eurovision. They appeared for the first time in the competition back in 2005; they began and ended as underdogs in the beginning years, placing 19th and 17th in the first two years. They moved up more and more, even participating in the grand final 4 times! Unfortunately  after their 2018 performance of "Bones" they had to withdraw from the competition in 2019 based on financial difficulties. It was said to have been from overspending on the previous Eurovision performance. 

Bulgaria is a whole different world, and one that I am not familiar with. I chose Bulgaria because I want to learn about their culture, and their place in Eurovision. I am very excited to watch the performances and to see what this beautiful country has to offer.
